Dog Walks I have Taken - Review of Campbell Valley Regional Park

Check out our new Metro Vancouver Dog Walks Forum - the most comprehesive listing of dog parks and walks on the web ... over 130 parks shown.

Narrative

This walk in Langley has nice trails, great squirrel sightings (too bad I'm on my leash), and big dogs with people riding them ... the second picture in the gallery shows these big dogs (although I must admit that they do smell funny).

There is a large off-leash area at a different entrance to the park, and I've even been lucky enough to see a bunny in that area ... boy, was that an exciting time, but the berry brambles were far too dense to follow.

There is an extensive set of trails through this park, which covers a total of 535 hectares (over 1300 acres). I usually take the Little River Loop Trail, a nice 2.3 km (1.4 mile) walk. It has a combination of forested areas, a marsh/river setting and flowery meadows. Later afternoon can be the best, when the larger crowds have left, and more of the squirrels come out to play with me.

I also occasionally cover Campbell Valley Regional Dog Park on my blog. Check it out at Beatrice's Campbell Valley Blog.

Here is the North Valley entrance, with lots of parking Sometime I see big odd smelling dogs (although Mom calls them horses) The park is a forest setting, complete with mushrooms ... and leaves than turn fall colours (although it's all grey to me) Here is a typical path, showing Dad and me

Park signage  Poo bag supply  Squirrel  Duck in the marsh  Post-walk drink in the car

The park is well stocked with poo bags ... and signs explaining their use I see the occasional squirrel which keeps the walk interesting Ducks enjoy the marshland and river After my walk, I get a drink of water in the car

Campbell Valley Regional Park is a great place to go if you want to feed the birds instead of searching out squirrels (although I really don't see the attraction of holding out your hand with bird seed until a bird lands on it).
