Dog Walks I have Taken - Review of Crescent Beach Dog Park

Check out our new Metro Vancouver Dog Walks Forum - the most comprehesive listing of dog parks and walks on the web ... over 130 parks shown.

Narrative

This walk in South Surrey is one of my favourite locations, as the dog park is really big. If there are more dogs there than I am comfortable with, I can simply move to another part of the dog park and be by myself (I'm sort of independent that way). Sometimes there are even bunnies in the dog park area ... they hide in the berry brambles and it's very exciting.

After I'm finished at the dog park, we usually walk along the ocean front or back alleys (good squirrel territory) to get to a cafe. Dogs are only allowed on the ocean front walk between September and May, and when it's low tide, I can go way out on the sand flats. Once we are at the cafe, I sit at the outside tables and relax while Mom or Dad get a snack and coffee. There are lots of dog admirers that sit out there too, so I get a bit of attention as well (given my supermodel status). The cafe (Wired Monk Coffee Bistro) even has a jar of dog biscuits for handing out!

The ocean water is really nice, but during the summer (in the dog swim area) it can get stinky (or at least I get that way afterwards, and need to be hosed down). I enjoy the winter ocean water better, and I can then go down to the beach at any spot, not just the summer designated dog swim area.

Overall, this walk is both a good mid-week or weekend activity. I also occasionally cover Crescent Beach and the Dog Park on my blog. Check it out at Beatrice's Crescent Beach Blog.

Here is Dad and me sitting on a beach log When it's low tide, I enjoy walking out on the sand This is the outdoor seating area at the Wired Monk Some nice bushes can be found south of the main beach At the dog walk, I can find lots of friend

The dog park has water buckets, but I prefer my own bowl As you can see, I prefer to be out of the big dog scrums It was a windy day when Mom took me out onto the beach walk This spot inside the dog park sometimes has bunnies The dock and shack are now gone, but I still like swimming in the ocean
