For the past couple of years, I have taken a summer vacation with my Mom and Dad near Chase, at a spacious cabin on Little Shuswap Lake. It is a very nice location, with lots of clean, fresh water and wildlife that are exciting to spot and bark at (mainly chipmunks and red squirrels).
There are some neighbour dogs as well, and sometimes we meet on the beach and take a sniff at each other. Everyone is well behaved. I also take walks into the forests (but be careful for bears!), where there are trails and cold creeks for wading around in. That is a good thing, because it is always very warm, and I certainly need to cool off, given my thick hair.
Overall, this is one of my favourite spots, but the lack of a nearby Starbucks drops the rating a bit for Mom. It definitely has top notch water features and good places to get my exercise. I hope we go there again this summer.
For 2010, I even wrote about this holiday in my blog ... why don't you check it out?

| When I get hot, I can always take a quick dip in Little Shuswap Lake | Mom says my sunshine skills need improving, cause I keep sitting out in the sun | Dad and I are checking out the signs at a forest site | This is a sample flume used for transporting logs down to the lake years ago | As I said, there a squirrels for me to bark at |
| This is another shot of the log flume | The Adams River is good for wading in, as long as you find a safe spot | Here is a typical forest creek, good for cooling off in and drinking | Our summer cabin gives us lots of privacy | And we have family visits ... here is cousin Baylee enjoying the lake |
This video is of the Adams River, known for its famous Sockeye salmon run. The river is fast flowing, and good for river rafting expeditions, which I have seen several times as I've been walking along the banks. The people are usually cheering and making a huge ruckous, so it's easy to know that they are drifting by.
Have you visited this holiday location? I would love to hear of your experiences and thoughts.
