Check out our new Metro Vancouver Dog Walks Forum - the most comprehesive listing of dog parks and walks on the web ... over 130 parks shown.
This walk is a delightful surprise ... even though it is in North Vancouver, you quickly leave the city behind, and enjoy Lynn Creek and the forest walk. Depending how far your Mom and Dad take you, it can be the entire day exploring and trails and various water pools and beaches.
We start out at the south end of Lynn Canyon Park, at Bridgman Park. It has a free parking area, although it can get filled up on busy weekends so you'll want to arrive by early afternoon. We then head north, under the highway. I don't really like the highway noise, so hurry past this point onto the quieter walking trails, and off-leash area. I especially like the cold, clear water of Lynn Creek (rivalled only by the Golden Ears Provincial Park water and creek swim ... at 3.1 paws).
After taking a swim along the creek (and meeting some other dogs playing in the water), Mom and Dad usually take me across Lynn Creek Bridge to the east side of Lynn Creek and we continue north into the forest trails. I have gone as far as the Twin Falls Bridge which makes for a full day trip if you are taking your time at the various beaches along the way. You have to judge your time though, as it can get dark quite quickly in the forest, and you want to be able to see the trail as you return. I can see better in the dark than Mom and Dad, so it's really a concern for them.
The forest trail is also part of the famous Baden-Powell Trail (a 48 km network of trails from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to Deep Cove in North Vancouver), so there are helpful steps built on the steep portions, and raised wooden paths in wet or marshy spots. In the summer, it is a good idea to bring water. I can drink from the creek, but Mom and Dad prefer their water out of a bottle.

| Here is my starting point, Bridgman Park in North Vancouver | A sign heading north from the parking lot signals the correct route | This area under the highway is very noisy, so I quickly run past | Here is the first big swimming spot on Lynn Creek | It is a popular spot to play fetch with sticks |
| Not to be outdone, I can also do stick, but I don't see the attraction | You can see that the creek gets deep enough for good swimming | The water is cold, so I can cool off before the bigger trek northward | Here is a metal bridge to cross to the east side of Lynn Creek | This park has lots of good areas to enjoy the water |
| The Baden-Powell Trail has steps for easy climbing along the trails | Here is a weir across Lynn Creek that Dad and I stopped at as we headed north into the park | Some of the canyon viewpoints even have benches for me to sit on | Here is a shot of the Twin Falls in Lynn Canyon Park | There are many beautiful canyon shots, so have your Mom or Dad bring their camera |
