Clippings from Jack Taylor's scrapbook give some insight into the local chess activities that existed in the Vancouver region in the 1950's. For example, several clippings give a run down of the results of the local Vancouver Chess League. A total of seven clubs were involved; UBC, New Westminster, Kerrisdale, West Vancouver, City Chess Club, Vancouver Chess Club, and North Vancouver.
The matches were generally held twice weekly, and the articles describe the 'minor division' results, suggesting that this was a developmental activity held by the clubs focusing on new and young players. Further research into this interesting league is ongoing.
