This site contains a narrative of the descendants of Alexander McKinlay. Alexander was born around 1776 in Of Anderson, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1801 he married Jean White, in Glasgow. They had a total of five children.

The research shown on this web site follows through to the descendants of Alexander's grandson, James in Scotland. James and his large family moved to Canada around 1912. Two generations in Canada are followed. In total, five generations are described, with photos and illustrative links provided where available.

Interesting Stories

At some point in his youth, Alexander McKinlay, son of Alexander McKinlay and Margaret Yuill, traveled to Australia to participate in the gold rush fever that swept New South Wales after the discovery of gold nuggets in 1851.

A genealogy listing of this magnitude is made possible only through the generous contributions of numerous family members. Many thanks are owed to these cousins for their genealogy research and documentation efforts.
