2. James2 Taylor (James1)1 was born on 4 Apr 1781.3 He was christened on 8 Apr 1781 at Paisley Burgh, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 He married Mary Jack. Two marriages between a James Taylor and Mary Jack are recorded in the Scotland OPR's, one Dec 9, 1787 in Glasgow, the other Dec 8, 1787 in Renfrew. These would have been when James was 6 years old, so it can be assumed that they were different couples. No further same name marriages have yet been found.3,4 He died on 4 Nov 1825 at age 44.4,3
He was a Hand Loom Weaver and was also known as John Taylor.5 He was also listed as a maltster during his career.6

Thomas3 Taylor (James2, James1) was born on 16 Jan 1807.3 He was born circa 1810.4 He was born circa 1812.6 He married Helen McQueir on 13 Oct 1843 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.3,1 He married Elizabeth Campbell Christie, daughter of Robert Christie and Jane McAra, on 3 Sep 1858 at Garnet Hill, Glasgow, Scotland.3 He married Mary Ann Johana Taylor, daughter of Charles Taylor and Margaret Dobbie, on 3 Nov 1868 at 10 Gayfield Street, Glasgow, District of Blythswood, Lanarkshire, Scotland.3,1,6 He died of bronchitis on 21 Mar 1872 at 40 Shamrock Street, Glasgow, Scotland, at age 65.7,3,5

Robert Christie4 Taylor (Thomas3, James2, James1) was born on 5 Jan 1863 at Glasgow, Scotland.7,3 He married Elizabeth Monteith, daughter of Robert Monteith and Elizabeth Mason, on 26 Sep 1894 at Glasgow, Scotland.7,13 He died on 19 Oct 1951 at Chilliwack, B.C., at age 88.14,15 He was buried on 22 Oct 1951 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Chilliwack, B.C.15

Elizabeth Gribben5 Taylor (Robert4, Thomas3, James2, James1)13 was born on 10 Feb 1895 at Glasgow, Scotland.13,22 She married William Blackley, son of Daniel Blackley and Margaret Weir, on 6 Feb 1918 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.22 She died of leukemia on 16 May 1938 at Dallas, Oregon, at age 43.23,13

She was also known as Beth Taylor.23 She was a drapery saleswoman in 1918.22

Robert Monteith5 Taylor (Robert4, Thomas3, James2, James1)13,25,25 was born on 16 Mar 1899 at 115 Plantation Street, Glasgow, Scotland.13,26,25 He married Rose Jean Coutts in 1934 at Regina, Saskatchewan.27,26 He died on 23 Nov 1966 at Regina, Saskatchewan, at age 67.13,28,27 He died on 25 Nov 1966 at Regina, Saskatchewan, at age 67.26 He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Veteran's Memorial section, Regina, Saskatchewan.26

He was also known as Bert Taylor23,27 He began military service in 1919 as an Assistant Steward for the British Mercantile Marine Core, through to 1922.26 He immigrated in 1922 to Regina, Saskatchewan.26 He began military service in 1940 as a Staff Sergeant with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War, until 1945.26 In Oct 1951 Robert Monteith Taylor lived at Regina, Saskatchewan.14 He retired from the Saskatchewan Government Motor Vehicle Licensing Division in 1964.26

James Christie5 Taylor (Robert4, Thomas3, James2, James1)13 was born on 9 Dec 1900 at Glasgow, Scotland.13,29 He married Doris Rosconie.28,30 He died on 1 Jan 1973 at North Vancouver, B.C., at age 72.13,28,29 He was cremated following a service on 4 Jan 1973 at Boal Memorial Chapel, North Vancouver, B.C.28
He was also known as Jim Taylor.23 He was a School Board custodian.29 In Oct 1951 James Christie Taylor lived at Vancouver, B.C., Canada.14 He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, residing in the Kiwanis Towers in North Vancouver in his later years.28

John Monteith5 Taylor (Robert4, Thomas3, James2, James1)31 was born on 11 Jul 1907 at 33 Rosehall Street, Glasgow, District of Milton, Scotland.31,13 He married Thelma Hilda Berry, daughter of Ernest Berry and Flora Helen Stiles, on 14 May 1936 at Port Coquitlam, B.C.32,33,13 He died of a heart attack on 9 Sep 1974 at Vancouver, B.C., at age 67.34,13 He was cremated following a service on 12 Sep John and Thelma Taylor's Wedding 1974 at Hamilton Mortuary Ltd., Vancouver, B.C.34,35 He was buried on 11 Jun 1991 at Forest Lawn, Burnaby, B.C.36

He immigrated on 1 Jul 1922 to Regina, Saskatchewan, having arrived in Quebec with his parents and Taylor grandparents as a passenger on the S.S. Cassandra from Scotland (on Canada Day!), then travelling by railroad to their final destination. The family stayed only a few years in Regina before moving to Vancouver.37,38 John Monteith Taylor lived at 2566 East Georgia, Vancouver, B.C.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Taylor came to this country at the age of 14, and after a brief pause in Regina, settled down in Vancouver. He won the British Columbia Championship at 21 - five years after being taught to play. He has won that title on five occasions, his latest triumph being in 1953 when he and Salia tied for first. At present, Mr. Taylor is the Traffic Manager of Forests Limited Department Store, a position he has held for the last five years.39
